A Devotional Does Not Have to Be Complicated

Set aside a short, realistic amount of time. Ten focused minutes every day can be more helpful than an hour once a month.

1. Scripture

Read a short passage slowly. Write down the verse or phrase that stands out.

2. Understand

Ask: What is happening here? Who is speaking? What does this reveal about God?

3. Reflect

Ask: Where does this meet my life today? Is there truth to believe, something to surrender, encouragement to receive, or an action to take?

4. Pray

Talk to God about what you just read. Prayer can include thanksgiving, confession, surrender, praise, and honest conversation.

5. Respond

Choose one simple response for the day. Faith becomes practical when Scripture changes how we speak, forgive, serve, decide, and love.
