You Do Not Have to Start on Page One

The Bible is a collection of books that together tell God's story. For a new Christian, beginning with Jesus can make the rest of Scripture easier to understand.

A Simple Starting Order

1. John — to learn who Jesus is. 2. Luke — to walk through the life and ministry of Jesus in detail. 3. Psalms — for prayer, worship, grief, fear, and hope. 4. Proverbs — for practical wisdom. 5. Genesis — to understand creation, the fall, covenant, and the beginnings of God's redemptive story. 6. Acts — to see the early Church and the work of the Holy Spirit.

How Much Should I Read?

One chapter is enough. Even a few verses are enough if you slow down and understand them. The goal is not to finish quickly; the goal is to know God and let His Word shape your life.

Ask Four Questions

What does this passage say? What does it show me about God? What does it show me about people or myself? What should I believe, change, remember, or do because of it?
