Bible Study: Identity in Christ — Living From Grace
Read and prepare
Read 2 Corinthians 5:14–21, Ephesians 2:1–10, and Romans 8:1–4. Allow 35–45 minutes. Aim: help believers understand their new life in Christ and respond with confidence, humility, and love.
Understand the passage
Second Corinthians connects new creation with Christ’s death and resurrection, a changed way of regarding people, and the ministry of reconciliation. Ephesians describes salvation as God’s gracious gift and then directs believers toward good works. Romans 8 places freedom from condemnation within life in Christ and the work of the Spirit.
Teaching movement 1 — Receive what God has given
Begin with Christ’s saving work. Our acceptance rests on grace, not our success at appearing spiritual. Invite the group to identify the difference between receiving grace and trying to earn it.
Teaching movement 2 — Let identity shape action
New life changes how we treat people. Reconciliation, honesty, service, and forgiveness are practical responses to grace. Confidence in Christ should produce humility rather than superiority.
Teaching movement 3 — Walk in the Spirit
Freedom from condemnation is not permission to ignore sin. Bring failures honestly to God, receive correction, and take practical steps toward faithful living. Growth is supported by prayer, Scripture, and the local church.
Discuss and apply
What false belief about yourself competes with the passage? How does grace change your response to failure? Who needs an act of reconciliation? Write one sentence summarising what the passage actually says and choose one action for this week.
Prayer
Father, help us receive Your grace and live from the new life You give in Christ. Renew our thinking and make our confidence fruitful in love. Amen.
